CELEBRATED EVENTS IN HONOR OF THE RELIC OF SAINT JORDI

Multitudinary feast of the Relic of Sant Jordi

The festivities of the Relic marked the current situation in the town during the first weekend of September. They also assumed, for many, the end of the holiday period, although it must be said that many companies had returned to work the previous week. The celebrations began on Friday evening, with a show and a great children's parade. Later in the evening, the revelers gathered in small groups to enjoy the traditional brotherhood dinner and then a revetla was held in Vil·the rosary. On Saturday it hosted the Entrada with the presence of a multitude of visitors and where more than four thousand participants took part, between musicians and revelers. They highlighted in a special way the ten captains who will hold the positions in next year's festivities, in what was their particular "premiere" in the multitudinous parade and in which many of them were accompanied by rumors configured by friendship squads. The Entrance was spectacular, with dozens of special costumes that beautified the parade. The event was well organized by the Festivals Committee, aspect that allowed meeting the planned schedules. That's why later the Parade could be celebrated normally, the cremà of party lanterns and the second of the scheduled musical dates, this time with the performance of a disco mobile again in Vi·the rosary. Sunday was dedicated to the Relic of Sant Jordi. After the target, which crowded the restored Plaça Major with the public to see the evolution of the leaders and official squads of the ten troupes, Mass was celebrated, organized by the Brotherhood of Sant Jordi, counting as preacher in Santiago Piñeiro, vicar of the parish of Asunción de La nostra Senyora d'Alboraia. In the evening it was the turn of the children's parade and the Procession of the Relic, in which tens of hundreds of revelers took part again. The party concluded with the arrival of the Relic of Saint George in the church and a fireworks display.

THE VIRGIN OF THE DESPERATE VISITED BATHS

Fervor and devotion in the reception of 'La Geperudeta’

Hundreds of people cheered on Monday 8 of August the arrival in Banyeres of Mariola of the Virgin of the Lost, popularly known as "La Geperudeta". The visit was included in the events scheduled on the occasion of the centenary of the coronation of the Virgin and which has the motto "always in the heart", an initiative that aims to bring the Virgin closer to the faithful. The Pilgrim Image is visiting all the archpriests of the diocese and that day corresponded to that of Our Lady of Agres, reason why he was in Agres, Alfafara, Bocairent, Banyeres de Mariola, the sauce, Bless her, Camp de Mirra and La Canyada, completing an itinerary in each locality. The arrival in Banyeres took place after 13 hours, one hour behind schedule, a question that complicated the wait of the people who waited under a sun of justice and a very strong heat. The first stop was in the geriatric, where she was received by all the residents. Then he followed the route along Doctor Fléming streets, Gori Molina, bananas, Furs and la Creu until you reach Plaça Major, where they were observed, as in other points of the route, specific roller shutters for the occasion. In the Plaça Major, most of the public was waiting, as well as the image of Patrón Sant Jordi, that was taken to the gate·that of the church to be part of the event. Likewise, the banners of the different brotherhoods and religious institutions were arranged on the steps of the church, as well as a small stage from where the proclamation of the gospel of the Annunciation was read and from where the different prayers were pronounced. After receipt, the Geperudeta was the object of veneration by young and old and many parents took the opportunity to "offer" their sons and daughters to the Virgin, giving examples of the fervor that is felt for the image of the Pilgrim and that has its celebration on the second Sunday of every May, an aspect that in Banyeres translates into the celebration of one of the town's most rooted "street parties". The farewell included the performance of a folkloric dance and the "mom-mobile" continued its route until leaving Banyeres through Carrer Ángel Torró, Friar leonardo, Constitution, Villena, Post, Vinalopó, Santa Cecilia, Relic of Saint George, Plaza de Juan Bautista Doménech, Bless her, Ruperto Chapí, Villena and Nou d'Octubre. To point, out of curiosity, that the vehicle that transports it, popularly known as "mother-mobile" was manufactured expressly for this purpose and that its registration, V-0075-GP, it is not the license plate of any car but the number reminds the 75 anniversary of the coronation of the Virgin, and the letters are, of course, from "Geperudeta". It should also be said that the image has a slight forward tilt, which is why it is affectionately known among Valencians as La Geperudeta.
