Restoration

The Brotherhood meeting

It was the month of April of the year 1923 when it was founded by the then priest and organist of this parish, son of our people, Rev. D. Emilio Ribera Berenguer, the Brotherhood of Saint George. Its first Board was thus constituted: Don Remigio Nougat, as president; Don Rafael Dobón, as secretary; Don Marcelino Enrique, as treasurer: being vocal, Don José María Avellán and Don Miguel Pont.

The day 18 August 1927, Pope Pius Xi proclaimed Saint George as Patron of Bañeres, thus ratifying the devotion, that from time immemorial, Our people pay tribute to someone they have always had as their protector and guide in all their tasks., and who constituted his breath, his encouragement and his glory.

On the occasion of this proclamation, three days of extraordinary festivities were celebrated in our town., which culminated with a solemn novena and triduum, in the festivities of the holy relic. Novena that is celebrated every year after the main festivals, that take place uninterruptedly in the month of April.

From those past dates to the present, all our people, and those who successively have been part of the Brotherhood Board, has been making the silent and enormous effort to ensure that the cult of its patron saint does not decline., but rather that it was like the driving force that inspired all the splendor and growth of festivals that are, on one side, the result of some concerns of desired and beautiful coexistence, Y, on the other hand, the growth of a hope, old and always new, of a people increasingly better in human and Christian matters.

In this same line of continuity, the members of the current Board, They enthusiastically undertook what had been in everyone's mind for a long time.: THE RESTORATION AND CONSERVATION OF THE ALTAR OF OUR PATRON'S ALTAR. His enthusiasm and the always prompt and generous response from everyone, made it possible for it to become a reality in a short time.

May the fulfillment of multiple material desires be a first step to carry out what should be fundamental and the center of our festive celebrations.: May our devotion to Saint George not be a matter of a few days, but the concrete and practical result of a Christian orientation to all matters and of a deep living of our faith, that like every reality embodied in the person has its special moments of manifestation.

May our major holidays be an opportunity to strengthen our family ties more, of coexistence and sincere human and Christian communication, so that our person also finds, these days, reasons for full realization.
