M. I. Sr. Vicente Pons Alos, Relic Feast Day Preacher

This year he will preside over the celebration of the Relic Day High Mass, the M. I. Sr. D. Vicente Pons Alos, archivist – Librarian Metropolitan Cathedral of Valencia, who will be accompanied by other members of the Cathedral Cabildo, continuing the relationship officially started a few years ago, being the Valencian Cathedral the custody of the most distinguished relic of S. Jorge all over the world.

Vicente Pons Alós priest, appointed canon archivist of the Cathedral of Valencia, by the Cardinal Archbishop of Valencia, Agustín García-Gasco Vicente, in February of 2008, he has focused most of his studies on the Valencian archives, as well as research on the history of the Church in Valencia, medieval nobility and brotherhoods or medieval Diplomacy and Heraldry. Between 1997 i 2002 studied Theology in the Faculty of Theology “San Vicente Ferrer” Valencia, and was ordained a priest in 2003, being called vicar of the parishes of Sant Dionio and Saint Pancracy of Valencia. Besides, has held the position of head of the Archive of the Collegiate Church of Xàtiva since 1983 and has worked on the organization and description of many Valencian archives, among them the parishes of Carcaixent, Go ahead, Vall de Cárcer and Enguera, among others. Besides, he was ecclesiastical curator of the exhibition of the Light of the Images of Xàtiva. Currently, teaches archival and book history subjects in the Librarianship and Documentation Diploma at the University of Valencia.
