Printed in a single ink on white “Conqueror” cardboard, of 45 x 32 cm., represents the image of 1841 of our Patron; Completing the iconography is a decorative border in the Baroque style, compounding an altarpiece, in which you can also see at the top end the coat of arms of our town superimposed on a detail of the orographic profile of Banyeres de Mariola drawn by Cavanilles in the year 1792, and at the bottom the iconographic representation of Our Lady of the Pillar, as well as a small box in which you can read the commemorative inscription of the event. Besides, on the back there is a historical reference to the image and the altar of the parish temple where the said image was housed. Text that we reproduce below:

“Old Image of St. George who was venerated in the Altar of the Holy to the Parish Temple of Santa Maria of the Mercy of Banyeres of Mariola; Carved by the famous Valencian artist Antonio Esteve Romero in 1841, made in carved wood, polychrome and gold.

It was destroyed on 27 of July of 1936 In the place of the red plain. Burned along with all images, altarpieces, objects of worship, etc. of the town, because of the Civil War.

Once the big fire that lasted for days was extinguished, and destroyed all the religious heritage, the boy Juan Sempere Ferre "from the Cars or the Carpenter", from the ashes that remained he recovered one of the four legs of the horse and one of the tassels from the old Script of Sant Jordi. At present the leg is guarded by the Sempere family – Hazelnut.
