The decoration of the niches of the Altar of Sant Jordi begins

Today, work has begun on the decoration of the niches of the Altar of our Patron Sant Jordi located in the cross of the Parish Temple of Santa Maria de la Misericòrdia.

These works of enrichment and polychrome of the niches will definitively conclude the decoration of the artistic ensemble of the Sant Jordi Altar carried out during the last years, since in the different interventions that have been carried out, both in the cross and in the altarpiece itself, the niches had always remained undecorated, causing them not to be fully integrated into the artistic patrimonial ensemble of the altarpiece; The three niches house the images of Sant Jordi, in the center, of Sant Blai, to his right, and Sant Lluís Gonzaga, to his left.

It is the will of the Board of Directors of the Confraternity of Sant Jordi, that all the works and decoration work of the whole complex are definitively concluded before the next patronal festivities in honor of Sant Jordi that we will celebrate next April 2017.
