The Confraternity of Sant Jordi present at the events of the Centenary of the Plum
The Insignia Chapter of the Alms of Sant Jordi de Cavallers del Centenar de la Ploma, institution established in Valencia with the mission of bringing together the people who have been most characterized by the exaltation and promotion of the values of the Valencian people throughout the world, as well as its most relevant symbol, as is the Coat of Arms of the Kingdom of Valencia, invited the Confraternity of Sant Jordi to the oath ceremony and investiture of new Knights, as well as the imposition of Sant Jordi Alms Crosses on people who, for its merits, have been distinguished. The Confraternity of Sant Jordi was represented by M. Elena Vilanova i Macarena Albero, president and secretary, respectively. The event was held on the day 18 of November in the church of Sant Joan de la Creu in Valencia and was presided over by Jaime Sancho, rector of the Basilica of the Virgin of the Despairs of the Cathedral of Valencia. The ceremony included the delivery of Mass in the cemetery in memory of the deceased. Hundreds of people came to the cemetery to fulfill the tradition of paying tribute to loved ones coinciding with the celebration of the All Saints' Day. The day was characterized by the constant trickle of visits from early in the morning, although there were also those who repeated their visit in the evening and took the opportunity to attend the Eucharist that was celebrated in the premises. the silence, prayer and sentiment were the predominant note of a custom that focuses on the memory of those who have gone and that in Banyeres has another similar appointment on the day 25 d'abril, last of the Moors and Christians festivals, where the visit to the cemetery and the tribute to the deceased constitutes one of the most characteristic and emblematic events of the festival. the Cross of the Alms of Sant Jordi and the investiture of new Knights. Then a gala dinner was held at the Casino d'Agricultura in an event that was attended by representatives of twenty institutions of Valencian society. The Confraternity of Sant Jordi has publicly thanked the invitation and attention received by the members and those responsible for the Centenary of the Plum.
