Chronicle of the holidays 2022
Miguel Martínez Sempere
Official Party Chronicler
∞ 1793
Exactly ago 230 years, The botanist Antonio José Cavanilles visited us and left the following written in his notebook that is kept in the Botanical Garden of Madrid: "I left Biar on my way to Onil, On this path I did not see new plants; everything and mainly the pine forests abound with margall and here it is somewhat more grown. As soon as we leave the pine forest, we see the Castle and town of Banyeres built on top of a small hill., and at the top of it the Castle; Its streets are sloping and everything is covered by the head of a mountain that is already rising as a branch or first staircase to Mariola.. They were celebrating San Jorge that day in Banyeres., which they continued in the next with a great roar of shots and attacks; Damming the capture of the castle by the Moors and the dam that the Christians later made…”
as we see, the best notary who could attest to our festivities, just as we follow them today, He is the eminent author of Observations on the King of Valencia.
∞ 1883
Does 140 years, the teacher D. Victoriano Martínez was captain of the Comparsa de Cristianos and in his notebook we can read: "Year 1883 my brother and I had the Captain Major party at San Jorge (his brother was a canon of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Valencia), costing us both the sum of 4.200 real fleece, party that had never been seen before…”
For this party D. Francisco Berenguer Mora the Consequences, poet based in Vigo, he wrote the teacher a big sheet of 46 decimetes, in which apart from praising the captain and his standard bearer, in addition to dedicating seven decimetes to his Comparsa de Estudiantes, reflected the Bathtubs of the time in all its nuances: authority, iglesia, culture, Party, the Relic, to the Moors, to the ambassadors, to a dancer, to women, to an old man, to outsiders, to the theater etc..
We owe Maestro Martínez the shields of the Comparsa de Cristianos that year., the wheel of the Old Moors, the drawings of Saint George whose plates were distributed in Acapte, etc. Although also in 1869 He wrote the Regulations of the Comparsa de los Cristianos and at the end of the 19th century he left great works in the parish church such as the litter of San Jorge, the grave, other images, paintings and altars, but unfortunately in 1936 Everything that existed in the temple was burned. At the same time, with his theater company, They built the Charity Theater and gave it to the people for the benefit of the poor.
Once these two anniversaries have been recorded, we go to the festivities 2022. In this chronicle, published in 2023, Forty years have passed since the creation of the figure of the Official Chronicler, that I have developed to this day. This year, and coinciding with the 40 anniversary, I will replace my verses that introduce the various acts with the different introductions from my book “25 anys de festa, poetry and theater".

And what a joy it will be to hear
the talk of bees,
see the poppies laugh
with blood red lips.
Shafar new paths of history
through ravines and paths
whether left-wing or right-wing
all united in a gang.
Travel on the same train
for the land of the future,
that feels white, black, reds…
may the fate be common.
