The La Luz de las Imagens foundation has selected an image that recreates Sant Jordi with the armor, spear and shield on black background. A design that is inspired by the figure of the warrior that appears on one end of the reliquary arm of the saint, of medieval origin, made in silver, oro, enamel and wood, according to sources from the Department of Culture.
The origins of the aforementioned relic -according to Culture- They go back to the year 1377 when Eleanor of Aragon (1333-1416) gifted to King Peter III the Ceremonious (your cousin) with a silver arm with the right arm bone of Saint George, with its attributes the shield with the red cross appears on it.
So the reliquary arm of Saint George was deposited in the chapel of Saint Agatha of the Royal Palace of Barcelona.. Year 1432 Alfonso the Magnanimous moved the relic to the Santa Catalina chapel of the Royal Palace of Valencia, and is currently kept in La Seu.
