The Moors and Christians take to the streets twice a year in Banyeres: around the 23 of April, What are the major festivals of San Jorge?, and the first weekend of September, to commemorate the arrival of the Relic of his patron. Hence the name of the celebration that began yesterday, and which had its climax in the afternoon Entry, a parade that was practically as spectacular and massive as last spring's celebration.
Banyeres lives its festivities with intensity and hence the massive participation of revelers and the public, of children and adults, registered yesterday. Nails 4.000 people are estimated to have been part of the parade, but many more applauded from the sidewalks and balconies, throughout the entire itinerary through the interior of the urban area. The organization reported that the lines took to the streets 151 squads, that were supported by 52 music bands. They also joined the parade 29 floats, that contributed to a great atmosphere.
The festive day had started at noon, with the ringing of bells that announced the beginning of the events of the Relic, and continued with the Entry of Moors and Christians, in which all ranks participated: Christians, students, Nasseros, Smugglers and Jordanians, on the side of the Cross; and Old Moors, We Moros, Marrocs, Pirates and Caliphs, for the Half Moon.
The whole set caused a festive and musical atmosphere through the streets of Banyeres, which remained in force during the hours in which the 4.000 participants covered the parade, always between applause.
The festive day did not end with the Entry, But it was planned that starting at twelve at night the usual parade and lantern burning would take place., a traditional expression in the population. With these acts, bathtubs, remembers the arrival of the Relic of Saint George materialized in 1788.
