The UNDEF achieves the cultural protection of the Moors and Christians
After many years of work, the UNDEF has achieved a great achievement for the conservation of the Moors and Christians Festivals, through the recognition of these as Goods of Intangible Local Relevance. The news has been published in the Official Gazette of the Valencian Community on date 3 February.
This work highlights UNDEF's interest in working for the good of the festival and its desire to preserve and promote the festive heritage., whether the population belongs or not to said entity.
For this, the Department, has designated the creation of a Commission that will be composed of, a representative of UNDEF, a representative of the Valencian Federation of Municipalities, a representative of the Traditional Festivals Council, and finally, two representatives of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage.
This news is of great importance for the populations that celebrate Moors and Christians, since from this generic statement for all populations, those that meet the requirements set by the Commission to form, may in the future request the declaration of Asset of Cultural Interest.
