The Generalitat recognizes all festivals as Intangible Goods of Local Relevance and some may be declared BIC individually.

Las 175 festivities of Moors and Christians of the Valencian Community are, from today; Intangible Asset of Local Relevance which implies official protection, granted by the Generalitat Valenciana. This initiative, for which the UNDEF has fought for three years, will make it easier for individual celebrations or specific events to be declared BIC, but also that the UNESCO World Heritage proposal be unblocked, paralyzed in Congress, precisely due to the lack of an autonomous resolution.

The DOCV published yesterday the resolution with the Order of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports with the resolution, which is effective from today, so it is in force. The measure covers the 175, but it also means that "it should not be an obstacle for those that meet the requirements established by the advisory commission at the time… may have individualized recognition as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) Inmaterial».

For the application of this protection, A commission made up of five members is created and attached to the General Directorate of Culture, which will establish the criteria for recognition as BIC in those cases of "special relevance and significance for Valencian cultural heritage".

FORECAST

Twenty most outstanding proposals

The launch in February of the now endorsed file was a great satisfaction for those responsible for the UNDEF, as it implied the conclusion of three years of preparatory work, as its president Paco López pointed out to this newspaper. further, The previous work carried out by the organization will allow around twenty celebrations "with more historical rigor" to be eligible for declaration as BIC in a short period of time.. The UNDEF also hopes that the declaration as a World Heritage Site can be launched., that would close the process, M. C.

Created a commission with My UNDEF delegate, another from the FVMP and a third from the Consell de Festes Tradicionaless

The members will be a representative of the UNDEF, another from the FVMP, a third from the Consell de Festes Tradicionales and two representatives from the cultural heritage directorate.

further, The Order recognizes that "the management of cultural heritage, protected by this statement… corresponds to the festive associations themselves and the town councils, in your case". further, the Generalitat, UNDEF and the festive associations "will promote the dissemination of this good, "They will guarantee their study and documentation with scientific criteria and will incorporate the available testimonies into material supports that guarantee their survival.". further, It must be noted that the resolution is registered in the general inventory of Valencian heritage..

Once this process is resolved, Congress could once again promote the inclusion of the candidacy of the Moors and Christians Festival as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This proposal, launched years ago by Eduardo Zaplana without positive results, It was recovered at the end of last year with the support of all groups in Congress, but it was paralyzed by the central government that did not process it- why it did not have the mandatory endorsement of the corresponding autonomy. After, if it is endorsed, the candidacy would enter the fray with the others presented.
