Arturo Pablo Ros Murgadas will be the Preacher of St. George's Day 2017

Monsignor Arturo Pablo Ros Murgadas was born in Vinalesa, province of Valencia, the 10 June 1964 in a family of Roman Catholic tradition. His grandfather was the blessed martyr Arturo Ros Montalt , which was executed in a lime kiln, during the Spanish Civil War for belonging to Catholic Action; and his uncle Honorato Ros is a priest. When he was young, he studied at the Col•legi Sant Jaume Apòstol de Montcada.

Years later, and having worked for a long period in banking, he discovered his true vocation: the priesthood and this led him to enter the Major Seminary of Valencia. At the same time, in 1987 took courses in Philosophy and Theology at the Faculty of Theology "Sant Vicent Ferrer", which ended in 1993. Be ordained a priest on the day 29 of June of that same year for the Archdiocese of Valencia, by the then Metropolitan Archbishop Agustín García-Gasco Vicente.

He began his pastoral ministry, as a priest in the parish of the Assumption of Our Lady of Torrent. Subsequently and from 1996 to the 2000 he was rector of Sant Vicent Ferrer and of Our Lady of the Good Guide in the city of Valencia.

In addition, he has been assistant diocesan councilor of the Cursets de Cristiandat Movement (MCC) and at the same time between 1998 i 2003 was a member of the Council of Priests and among the 2000 i 2005 he was superior of the Major Seminary in which he had studied. A year later, in 2006 he became pastor of Requena and its various parishes and from 2010 being entrusted by Archbishop Carlos Osoro Sierra, was appointed as Episcopal Vicar of the Territorial Vicarage V (lily, Requena, In addition), as well as a member of the Presbyteral Council in the Valencian Archdiocese.

The 27 June 2016, the Holy See publicly announced his appointment by Pope Francis as auxiliary bishop of Valencia and titular bishop of the former See of Ursona (“Osuna, Ursons (sis)-Spain-, which he had as metropolitan in the Archdiocese of Seville”). With this appointment he becomes the second auxiliary bishop of the Valencian archdiocese.

His episcopal consecration took place on Saturday 3 September, in the Cathedral of Santa María de València, in a Eucharist presided over by the Metropolitan Cardinal-Archbishop and main celebrant Monsignor Antonio Cañizares and by the co-celebrants, the archbishop of Madrid, Monsignor Carlos Osoro and the assistant in the Valencian headquarters, Monsignor Esteban Escudero Torres. As a motto to develop his work in this new stage as auxiliary bishop of Valencia he has chosen the phrase: “Be ready to offer forgiveness” is to say: “Hasten to forgive”.

It should be noted that within the Spanish Episcopal Conference (CEE), has been designated as a new member of the Episcopal Commission for Secular Apostolate, which is going to be incorporated in the month of November 2016.
